Mahi hard with plenty of treats

Living in Taranaki but keen on 7 days on and 4 days off mahi in Auckland?

15 labourers are needed for mahi up in Auckland working on walkways and bush areas. The employer provides your transport in and out of Taranaki, and this includes paid travel 4.5 hours each way.

  • 7 days on and 4 day off roster.
  • Starting rate of $22.50, depending on experience.
  • Accommodation provided while working away.
  • Working away allowance of $50.00 per night.
  • Must be physically fit, motivated and able to commit to working away.

This mahi starts in Auckland and is then back on Taranaki Maunga from January.

Start a course and finish with mahi

Now is the time to get your Forestry Industry Foundation Skills (Level 2) for free!

This is a fees free forestry foundation course for those who are interested, motivated and able to get into this industry.

Learn:

  • proper chainsaw use,
  • about forestry,
  • planting,
  • harvesting, 
  • and commerical forestry.

Location is Kowhai Lodge, Stratford, and all transportation is provided to and from course.

The course is 17 weeks and starts Monday 15 August.

All applicants must:

  • Live within Taranaki
  • Be at least 16 years old
  • Be physically able to complete the program-specific outcomes
  • Be willing to particpate in a drug test to join the forestry industry

Literacy Aotearoa upcoming courses

Literacy Aotearoa in New Plymouth have a wide range of course currently running this term with rolling intakes.

Whether you want to upskill in the digital world, better your literacy and numeracy skills, get help with sitting your learner license, learn about leading a healthy lifestyle of if your already in employment and need a bit of help with your numeracy and literacy there is a course suitable for all! 

All classes are held at the Literacy Aotearoa campus, 89 Liardet Street, New Plymouth (Corner of Lemon and Liardet Street) The following courses are now open for people to join at any point: 

  • Digital Literacy: Mondays 10am-12pm or Thursdays 9:30am-11:30am
  • Literacy and Numeracy: Tuesdays 10am-12pm or Tuesday 1pm-3pm
  • Learner's License: Wednesdays 10am-12pm
  • Healthy lifestyles: Thursdays 10am-12pm
  • Workplace - Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Literacy: Thursday 12-3pm

The LSV course is a voluntary and free 6-week training course run by the New Zealand Defence Force.

You’ll meet new people and take part in a range of activities to:

It’s never too late to start your new and rewarding career in healthcare with free online skills training and job placement support in a stable sector.

Learn and move at your own pace, and be supported along the way into a care career.

Do the training online from the safety of your own home, before being matched with a local employer for work.

The job placement service is for you if you have not been working in the health sector within the last 5 years, and not working fulltime at the moment.

Join a free online programme through Literacy Aoateroa that is perfect for those wanting to join the police, defence force or anyone that needs to undertake psychometric tests.

  • Further maths skills aimed at psychometric tests
  • Your reading and writing skills
  • Work under pressure to complete tasks

Support to hire kiwi's new to the Farming/Dairy Industries

Federated Farmers and MSD have joined to provide support to encourage farmers to hire NZ employees who are new to the sector.

Many New Zealanders jobs have been impacted by COVID 19 and they are looking for new opportunities. This initiative aims to bring potential employees and employers together with a mutually beneficial support scheme.

Provided all eligibility criteria are met the new employee receives a starter kit of farm gear and ongoing pastoral support, the employer can receive a wage subsidy to assist with training costs for the new employee.
