Sawmill workers

Full time positions available working in local sawmills.

General duties include heavy lifting, stacking timber, general tidy up of the workplace and other work-related duties that may be required.

Work is predominantly Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm, but some weekend work maybe required.

Cleaners needed

Do you take pride in keeping things clean?

Invercargill based employers are searching for part time cleaners.

Duties will include floors, bathrooms, vacuuming and dusting and other general cleaning duties at locations such as commercial and retail businesses, cafés and schools etc. This could also include evenings or weekend work.

You will work to a task list and day routines, have good communication skills and be contactable by phone and email.

Some moderate lifting may be required, so you must be physically fit and healthy.

Previous experience is preferred, but full training will be provided to the right person.

A successful applicant will need the following:

Minimum of a Restricted Drivers Licence and preferably own transport.

Construction general labourers wanted

General labourers are required various assignments in and around Invercargill.

Work can vary from casual afternoon shifts in Bluff loading containers for export, to builders’ labourers on construction sites, to factory hands.

Hours of work will vary depending on the specific assignment.

Applicants must have a reasonable level of fitness and must be able to pass drug testing procedures.

A minimum of Restricted Class 1 licence and own transport will also be required for certain roles.

Community health workers needed

Growing Future Farmers aims to accelerate the careers of school learners from entry-level faming skills through to advanced farming skills and business management.

This two-year programme (46 weeks each year starting mid-January and ending mid-December), includes:

  • Placement throughout 10 regions of NZ
  • Practical workplace training and development
  • NZQA level 3 qualifications
  • Pastoral care and liaison support
  • Course fees, access to subsidised gear, equipment and clothing pack, and two pups provided

Defensive Driving Courses in Southland

Completing a Defensive Driving course can put you on the fast track to your full driving licence.

If not having your full driving licence holds you back from job opportunities then this course is for you. It can reduce the time you are on your restricted licence by up to 6months (if under 25) or 3 months if you are 25 or over.

4 x 2 hour theory sessions and 1 practical drive (you must attend all sessions to complete the course)

Based at SIT Gore Campus, SIT’s New Zealand Certificate in Computing (User Fundamentals) (Level 2) gives you the opportunity to learn computing from the very beginning.

You will learn:

  • Database application, desktop publishing, image editing, documents and folder organisation.

Funding is available for expert advice and support to scale-up your tourism business to prepare for the border reopening.
