Workers in New Zealand work longer hours and for less reward than workers in most other OECD countries. In short, New Zealand works harder rather than smarter. We are one of a small number of OECD countries with both a low level of labour productivity and low productivity growth.

So why is New Zealand's productivity performance so low and what can we do here in Marlborough to change that?

Breakfast with James Coddington, SkillsVR

Join the Marlborough Chamber of Commerce to hear from James about his work and vision for the future of workplace learning.

James, Founder and Co-CEO of Skills VR, started the business in 2013 with the goal to change people’s lives through the teaching of life and business skills by giving individuals the opportunity to own and run their own business. This experience highlighted the massive skills gap that was evident for job seekers as well as the challenges individuals had in acquiring the necessary skills to be employable.

Traditional education was not working, businesses needed to find a new way to deliver training that is fun, engaging and immersive that delivers very high learning outcomes. James believes that everyone has a right to valued employment, regardless of education, literacy or location and that coupled with the current skills training methods being outdated and failing the business community – SkillsVR was born.

When: Friday 26 August, 8am - 9:30am
