Toloa STEAM Scholarships

Applications are open for the Toloa Tertiary Scholarships. They aim to inspire and support Pacific students in their engagement with STEAM: Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths.

Toloa’s Vision is to make a transformational impact in the communities we live in. Toloa Scholarships support Pacific students to pursue studies in STEAM. Toloa supports Pacific Peoples in STEAM pathways over a whole of life approach from ECE, primary, intermediate, secondary, tertiary through to the workforce. Now in its seventh year, the Toloa funds are achieving the goal of helping tertiary students to cover their tuition fees and compulsory course related fees.

The Toloa Tertiary Scholarship package includes tertiary tuition fees and compulsory course related fees up to $10,000, for 1 year of fulltime study for STEAM-related tertiary courses and subjects.

It also includes the Toloa alumni programme – access to STEAM networks, mentors and employers.

Ako Pacific professional development fund

Ako Aotearoa offers support through scholarships for Pacific staff and emerging Pacific leaders in tertiary education.

The scholarships are each worth between $2,000 and $5,000. The nominees' organisation is expected to provide a cash or "in kind" contribution to match that being funded by Ako Aotearoa.

The purpose of the scholarships are two-fold and aim to address the following priorities:

  • Supporting Pacific tertiary staff on their pathways to leadership positions through career development.
  • Building leadership capability, along with capacity, that becomes a stronger platform of support to grow greater Pacific learner success.

The fund is open to all Pacific staff working in tertiary education in New Zealand.
