Support into employment

Are you disabled, have an injury or health condition limiting your ability to work?

Workbridge is free and they offer one-to-one sessions with an Employment Consultant to discuss career options for you. This is a drop in service.

Strawberry pickers

Kaipaki Berries Ohaupo is looking for more strawberry pickers. 

You will need to be able to work one weekend day and four other consecutive days.

You need your own reliable transport to get to site. Kaipaki road address, just 5 minutes’ drive South of Hamilton airport.

All berries are grown on waist high tables under poly tunnels. Poly tunnels are like an open air green house, so protected from rain and covered from the sun.

Pickers use trolleys and each trolley has its own scales. You push the trolley up and down the aisles picking the fruit.

Applicants will need to be physically fit and able to work on their feet all day.

Very open employer who will take most applicants on face value and doesn't require you to be vaccinated.

Pay rate $21.60 plus an extra $1.00 per hour attendance bonus if you work 40 hours or more per week.

Wood processing work

A Waikato employer is looking for multiple wood processors

Wood processers are required to operate various timber processing equipment.

Duties include:

  • Planing in/out feeds and cutting to length using saws
  • Using bandsaws and other timber processing equipment
  • Sorting and branding timber 
  • Labelling product prior to and after processing

You must be physically fit, able to work outdoors and pass a pre-employment drug test. You must also have at least a restricted NZ driver licence and reliable transport.

Security Guards

Full time security work in a variety of roles across Waikato.

Positions include control room operators, communications, monitoring operators, security officers and mobile patrol officers.

Work places include:

  • Construction
  • Government
  • Healthcare
  • Retail

You must be at least 18 years old, ideally with a restricted driver license and your own vehicle. You must have a clean criminal record, be physically fit and comfortable working rostered shifts.

The COVID-19 Public Health Response (Vaccinations) Order 2021 applies.

Full training is provided to new and experienced applicants.

Wintec Horticulture Information day

Are you interested in a career in horticulture or landscape design and construction?

Attend an on-campus experience at the Horticulture Education Centre based at the Hamilton Gardens. This day will include workshop demonstrations on landscaping and planting. Join a business networking group

Business owners get the opportunity to help each other grow strong and exciting businesses by meeting, educating each other.

Attend Morebiz weekly business networking meetings with guest speakers from Thursday 10 February.

Networking helps you learn about other businesses and share the benefits of working with you. It's a great way to collect referrals and grow your business.
